Research the area & market

Overview:

The more information you have on the area around your location the better. Take the time to research the building and location. Securing the right location is a BIG decision. Make a list and check it twice.

Action Tools:

What are the codes required in that area? Some districts you do not need a sprinkler system but your county may require your entire attraction to be handicap accessible. Learn your building codes.
Who is paying to attend your Haunt? Research the local community & surrounding cities. How many other Haunts are around and are they successful? Is there enough interest to sustain your business?
How much are they willing to pay? Research how much other Haunts are charging and get ideas on how to charge your customers. Go attend the other local area Haunts and take notes.
Where to find information on the property. The local Assessor’s office will have information on land owners and building owners. This government website has useful info on demographics https://www.census.gov/ If you’re working through a Realtor, they can help you as well.
