Overview:
Planning before you start your design is necessary so that you can save time by knowing your vision of the attraction and save money by designing around your environment. Use what you have around you and research the restrictions of the area before you start your design.
Save Time Tools:
Design with the future in mind. Make walls moveable, areas safe, & areas effective.
Visit other haunts for ideas. Never replicate exact scares but experiencing other attractions will help spark creativity.
Hire a professional for floorplans. You can give a designer your rough draft & they can turn it into reality.
Design with your local codes & restrictions in mind. Make sure everything is approved first before you build.
Save Money Tools:
Use graph paper and apps. CAD based programs work for some or just grab a pencil.
Create a profit-first smaller attraction. Start with a 3,000 sq ft attraction & then grow each year.
Use every inch of your property. You're paying for the space, use it all.
Design around your environment. Use everything you can. Large columns, old vehicles, large windows, large storage boxes? Use them in your scenes.
